i'd buy or rent an electric.
i currently am renting one, the manual was to much work for not much milk.

i pump and put into bottles cause she falls asleep if we latch on, to keep up my supply i do latch her on once a day for as long as she wants.

i was worried that bottles would discourage her ability to breastfeed properly, but after 4 days in the nicu, and bottles daily, she still is an excellent breastfeeder.

i had to try the electric breast pump when i was still in hospital because baby wasnt latching on properly at first but it didnt work, nothing came out and it felt HORRIBLE! i just sat there crying with this thing attached to me then gave up like i would rather do this manually but then didnt have to because baby finally latched on. i hated breastfeeding though i found it the most awful feeling in the beginning it hurt but after it wasnt so much a pain as just a cringing feeling it used to make my toes curl and my teeth grit together like chalk on a blackboard but i did it for 6 months for my little ones benefit. im not trying to put you off because some women really enjoy it and it doesnt bother them at all. it is very bonding i just didnt like the feeling.

Depends on why you need it.

If you'll be returning to work, you need a top quality double electric pump.

If you won't be returning to work you don't really need a pump at all. (In the rare situation that you end up needing to pump early, (i.e. baby is in the NICU and can't nurse), you'd want to rent a hospital grade pump for the short-term.

If you choose to pump the occassional bottle (after 6 weeks) so that you can be away from your baby or hubby can give a feeding from time to time, you may be able to hand express, or if that doesn't work for you, you could decide then if you want to invest in a costly pump for that occassional use, or if a slower, but less costly manual one will do for you.

(I never owned a pump at all.)

Electric! You don't have a lot of time, you want to get as much milk as possible in a short amount of time and effort. I tried both and the manual was really hard. I recommend renting one from the hospital, they are really high quality and it is far less expensive than buying your own.
